Topography by Four
Four photographers; three shows; one venue
Luis Bustamante, John Brooks, Iris Bolster and Martin Edwards.
Primal Landscapes (Luis, Martin) concerns two volcanic landscapes which are - literally - poles apart. Chile’s Atacama Desert and Iceland are connected through colours, textures, human interventions, and ultimately the beauty of these places.
Transitions (John) examines the structure and potential of the subject matter to give the viewer a fresh perspective of the ordinary and mundane, using a visual language from modernistic and fairly abstracted to more complex layered photomontage.
850 (Iris, Martin) uses infrared photography to give dramatic landscapes, big skies and sweeping foregrounds, while also showing a more intimate view and subtle effect in different circumstances or light.
